mission - occasionally we look outside of our own little compound. As scary as this seems, it sometimes leads to engaging with strangers. When this is an act of love and concern it is called mission. Apparently it's very healthy... some would go so far as to say it's unavoidable. The church has a long history of engaging with the world around them in an effort to share God's love and truth. It has taken many forms, including social care, missionary work and political lobbying. It is indeed an noble thing but it's the human element that makes mission so cartoon worthy.
